Test Preparation Tips
The Millard Public Schools has established competency standards for the Essential Learner Outcomes (ELO) of reading, mathematics, science, social studies and writing.
All students graduating from Millard Public Schools are required to pass the Essential Learner Outcomes assessments. Assessments are given one time during the regular school day for students at the indicated grade level.
Ninth graders take the reading comprehension ELO assessment. Tenth graders take the math ELO and the Analytical Writing Assessment (AWA). Eleventh grade students take the science and social studies ELO assessments.
Student performance is measured against preset determinations of competency. These assessments are district developed and are made up of curriculum related material. All students will participate in the assessment program. All students must meet the cutscore of ELO tests in order to graduate from the Millard Public Schools.

ELO Retesting Information
New students in grades 10-12 were notified to take the assessments given in previous grades the first week of August. Students who missed this August testing will be automatically registered to attend the next session. See the Assessment Calendar for all dates and times.
In order to keep students in class as much as possible, tests for new students and all retests are only given outside of the regular school day. Students will be expected to attend these retest sessions until they have met the cutscore.
Students needing to test will receive a letter of notification three weeks prior to the test. Retake assessments during the school year will be held at the student’s high school.
All families with students who have not passed ELO tests should mark their calendars accordingly. By prioritizing this retesting in your family’s schedule, you reinforce the importance of meeting this important graduation requirement.
Please call Mrs. Heidi Weaver at 715-8268 if you have questions.
