First Time Information
Welcome to MSHS Drama!
Your student is in store for a fun team experience. They are now part of the Drama Family. It takes everyone " doing their part well" to put on the first class performances we see at MSHS. The set construction, scenic painting, musicians, makeup, costume, prop manager, stage techs, lights and sound, student director and actors on stage all work together to make it happen. If you have a child involved in a drama production, you are aleady a member of the Drama Boosters. It's a family affair. Come and join the fun!
Performances usually occur on Friday nights at 7:00 p.m., Saturday at 7:00 p.m., and Sunday at 2:00 p.m.(Occasionally with large musicals a Thursday night and Sunday matinee perforance is added.) Call time- when a student needs to be there is usually two hours before the showtime.
Tech Meals are provided after practice on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday night the week of the performance by the Drama Boosters. (No meal is provided on Wednesday since it is an early no school activity night.) We usually have Tacos on Monday, Soup and Salad on Tuesday, and Pasta on Thursday. If your child is involved in the production, you will be contacted about donating food or money towards the meals. They eat there meal while the director, Mrs. Baker, gives her Notes (comments on the performance practice). Once this is done, they are ready to go home and do their homework.
Tickets for the performances can be purchased on Tech meal nights, before each performance, and by contacting Mrs. Baker at 715- 8425 or 715- 8268. If interested, Season Ticket packages are available for purchase in September and can be redeemed for the specific performance you choose through out the Season. There is a savings of $50.00 if 25 tickets are purchased.
Parent Ads can be purchased for your child. For $25.00 your child's picture with a brief note from the parent is placed in the Play program. Parents provide the picture they want to be used.
Strike occurs after each Sunday performance. This is when all the cast and crew pitch in to help disassemble the set, put props and costumes away and clean the whole theater area. The students are assigned specific tasks to complete. Parent help is always appreciated. Many hands makes light work and everyone gets to go home sooner.
Concessions and Roses are available for sale in the Theater lobby before and during Intermission of each performance. We appreciate donations of individually packaged cookies/brownies, candy, popcorn/Chex Mix and water to sell. Let your child know how well they did with a rose and personal note!
Parent Volunteers are needed to help with each performance. Please let the Drama officers know how you would like to help: building Set, Donating Food, Helping with serving Tech meals, Selling Concessions or roses at performances, Helping with Fundraising Activities, Advertising, etc.
We look forward to having you in the Drama Family! Please feel free to contact any of the Drama Booster Officers if you have questions at our email address.
